COVID-19 Resources for Parents
It’s hard to know what information to trust with so much uncertainty in the world right now. Here’s a list of resources for parents looking for ways to talk to their kids about the novel coronavirus. With children, know that one conversation is not enough. Leave the door open to questions and continued conversation.
If you have a young child (under 7) - this coloring book is a great way to explore what they know and their feelings.
This comic from NPR is a fantastic explainer of what COVID-19 is and how it works.
The National Child Traumatic Stress Network puts together resources for parents on how to cope with trauma and what to tell their children. They have two resources up related to the novel coronavirus: this one talks about helping families cope, while this one gives families a list of activities to keep kids and teens busy.

Finally, Ali Mattu is a psychologist with a YouTube channel that focuses on providing quick, effective tips on mental health. He has a number of excellent videos on coping with coronavirus, including this one on how to cope with so many things in your life being cancelled, and this one specifically with seniors who are watching their senior events - like graduation and prom - get cancelled from under them.
